Doug Benson, PsyD, DBT-LBC

Doug is a licensed clinical psychologist in the State of Utah. He specializes in empirically supported interventions, with a Linehan Board Certification in DBT. Doug received his Masters in Psychology at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. He went on to get his Doctorate in Psychology from Pepperdine University. His initial training was in personality and neuropsychological assessment, as well as the treatment of the severely mentally ill, with an emphasis on complex trauma and Borderline Personality Disorder. He completed an internship at Utah State Hospital (USH), where upon completion, he took a job. Doug worked in a postdoctoral position at the hospital, then as a staff psychologist. During his work at USH, Doug championed the implementation of scientifically supported psychosocial treatments for the severely mentally ill. He was the Director of Psychology at USH until he left to dedicate all of his time to the treatment of emotion dysregulation at Decision Tree in 2020.

Brynn Celestino​, LCSW

Brynn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Utah. She specializes in empirically, supported interventions, including dialectical behavior therapy, exposure and response prevention, and trauma treatments. Brynn received her Masters in Social Work from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She specializes in the treatment of complex trauma, borderline personality disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder. She has intensive training in dialectical behavior therapy, with training in exposure response prevention and trauma as well. She has previously worked in the Provo City School District as a case manager, as well as a residential and transitional program called New Roads Behavioral Health. While there she refined her practice of dialectical behavior therapy while working with individuals experiencing borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, psychotic symptoms, complex trauma, and chronic suicidal ideation and self-harm. Brynn is enthusiastic about her work practicing dialectical behavior therapy and helping individuals identify and work towards a life worth living.

Lena Gustafson, PhD

Lena is a licensed clinical psychologist in the State of Utah. She specializes in empirically supported interventions, with extensive DBT training and supervision, intensive training in prolonged exposure, and intensive training in the treatment of psychotic disorders. Lena received her Masters in Psychology at as well has her Doctorate in Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology. Her initial training focused on cognitive and personality assessment, treatment of severely mentally ill, with emphasis on complex PTSD, personality disorders, and psychotic disorders. She completed an internship at Captain James Lovell Federal Health Care Center in Chicago, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Utah State Hospital (USH). After completing her postdoctoral fellowship, she took a position at USH as a staff psychologist. During her work there she was a member of the DBT provision team, provided empirically supported treatments for a variety of severe and persistent mental illness, as well as assessment. In June of 2022 she moved to Utah Department of Corrections as the Deputy Director of Programming. She has been with Decision Tree since its beginnings in 2016.

Decision Tree Mental Health

It sadness me to say, the physical office of Decision Tree Mental Health, PLLC located at 363 N. University Ave. Suite 104, (385) 327-9181 has closed due to unforeseen economic difficulties. It has been our pleasure and honor to serve you for the last 9 years.

At your request, copies of the pertinent information for your records can be made available to the mental-health professional of your choosing.  If you wish to make a request regarding your patient records, please contact the office before the permeant closing date of June 11th, 2025. We will need your written authorization to make your recorded available to you or another professional. After that date, June 11th, please direct your requests in writing to Doug Benson, PsyD, DBT-LBC at PO Box 117, Springville, UT, 84663.

Current clients will be seen virtually through June of 2025, but no new clients will added. Doug Benson, PsyD, DBT-LBC will no longer be providing private services, and Brynn (Celestino) Andersen will continue offering services through DBT Networks of Utah found at 92889 S Redwood Rd, Suite C, West Jordon, UT 84088. They can be reached at (801) 568-2898. If a referral is needed, my first recommendation would be Brynn and Kristie Lemmon at DBT Networks of Utah. They provided comprehensive DBT to fidelity. Brynn is also trained in empirically supported treatment for PTSD, BPD and PTSD combined, and couples therapy for emotion dysregulation.
